First Decide Whether Crypto Is Appropriate

Compare cryptocurrency with bank transfer, card, supported marketplace balance, and other available methods. Consider:

  • Compare any new payment instruction through a second trusted channel.
  • Check the entire receiving address, not only the first and last few characters when risk is material.

For a private high-value deal, document whether a test is permitted, how its value is credited, who pays the extra network fees, and whether the final address remains unchanged. Never assume the second address is safe merely because the first test succeeded; reverify it.

A transaction can be broadcast, pending, included in a block, and then receive additional confirmations. A stablecoin may be designed to track a reference asset, which can reduce short-term price movement compared with an unpegged asset. It is not identical to bank cash. Risks can include issuer and reserve exposure, depegging, custody, exchange solvency, smart contracts, network congestion, freezes, liquidity, and regulatory treatment.

Confirm the exact token contract and network where relevant. A familiar ticker alone is insufficient.
